Less Sugar Please!!

Hey-lo!!!

Well, I think my "diet" is already starting to work! The only "junk" I consumed yesterday was a European Kit-Kat bar and a push pop popsicle. Why a European Kit-Kat you ask? Because the chocolate tastes like chocolate! (not wax!) And my manager got it for me because she knows I like them, so of course I had to consume it. And the push pop because the lovely HR girls here at work decided we all needed a popsicle on such a hot day (it got to 82F!)
Everything else I ate was "natural" and I have to say, I am feeling pretty good today! I didn't sleep the best (due to a sore throat) but I have more energy today than I did yesterday!

This mornings breakfast was almost the same as yesterdays:

But today I added some fresh blueberries instead of banana. I have some strawberries and green pepper to snack on today and am unsure what I am going to have for lunch. Likely a left over slice of pepperoni pizza (I know..its bad, but it's leftovers! And I am only going to have one! Promise!)

And since I had a sore throat this morning, I decided to stop in at Walgreen's on my way to work to pick up some cough/throat drops. I was reading the latest issue of Self Magazine on the way to work this morning and there was an article about hidden sugars. Well, I decided that I am going to try and consume less fake sugar in my everyday travels. So, naturally, when I got to the cough drop aisle, I headed straight for Ricola!
I was going to grab the "Sugar Free" version, but I read the back and the first inactive ingredient was aspartame. That is one thing I steer clear from! No diet stuff for me, mostly no sugar free because I don't want to consume aspartame or splenda, or things like that.

So I decided to get the Honey Lemon Echinacea flavor because it was sweetened with Honey and a very little big of sugar (sugar was listed as the last inactive ingredient)

Of course, while there, I had to check out my favorite section! (the cosmetics section)
They were having a bunch of sales, but all the items and colors I would have wanted were already sold out. I decided to take a peak at the Wet n Wild section to see what was available. I love their price point.

I grabbed a new Wet Shine nail polish called "Blazed". A very soft coral color that I can't wait to try out! I am thinking of doing a citrus themed french manicure this weekend. Painting my nails white and then using "Blazed", "Green with Envy" by Sally Hansen, and a yellow I have yet to buy as the white part of the manicure.

I also decided to try one of their lipsticks. I have such a hard time finding lipsticks that work for me (hence me owning so many glosses) but at $1.50 I decided I couldn't go wrong, even if it didn't look good.

I picked up Wet n Wild Mega Last lipstick in C905D Smokin' Hot Pink...all I can say is LOVE IT!!!!
It is such a beautiful bright pink! And it works with my skin tone as well. I will definitely have to try more of their lipsticks in the future!

I have found another perfume that I absolutely adore. I have this weird thing for Paris Hilton.

It's like a love/hate relationship. I think shes fabulous and love the way she dresses and accessorizes and all that stuff, but then she has also grown up with money, has entitlement issues, and acts (hopefully) like a total ditz. I think shes beautiful but annoying (or maybe just misunderstood). But her perfume "Heiress" is on my top 10 list for perfumes I love! Probably even in the top 5.

Who's your celebrity love/hate relationship with?

It's been too long!!!!!

Hello Everyone!

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I've had some things going on in my personal life but I am sooooo happy to be back to my blog!
I am also thinking of starting some outfit posts. We'll see if I can find someone to take pictures of me!

Lets get right down to it.
If you know me, you know I LOVE nail polish!

Rite Aid was having a sale on Sally Hansen nail polish, Buy One Get One 50% off...how could a girl refuse?!
Well, I couldn't!

I grabbed two new colors!
First one I applied last night, called "Green with Envy".

Personally, I think its MUCH more neon than it shows in the bottle. When I woke up this morning and saw my nails I was a little frightened. But as the day progresses it's growing on me!

The second one I am so excited to try! It's called "Celeb City".

I really wanted a very shiny metallic silver in my arsenal and I finally found the perfect one!

No, I just need to find the perfect purple! All the ones I've bought so far look great in the bottle, but end up way too dark on my nails.

Any suggestions?

Welcome!!!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to Sequins and Stripes!
This blog will feature all kinds of things from Fashion & Beauty, to Movies & Music!
I am really excited and really inspired by a lot of other fashion blogs out there on the inter-web.

For my first post, I want to talk cosmetics! I had to get some change this morning so I decided I would get some new cosmetics. So I stepped into Walgreen's on my way to work and ran my eyes over Rimmel Cosmetics (my fave!) but didn't see anything I wanted to get, so I went to the nail polish section.
I absolutely LOVE Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear nail polish! It's so amazing! It lasts so long without chipping. I've managed to go 2 weeks without a single chip with my SH HANXW in Pacific Blue.
I picked up Gunmetal this morning
I also bought a new nail polish last week.
It's by my favorite cosmetics company, Rimmel.
I got Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro in Posh Pink!
I own this in "Steel Grey" and it lasted about 10 days (like it says on the bottle) with only wear at the tips where my nails rubbed against things. No chipping!
The Lasting Finish Pro is also the one of two base/top coats I will use. The other being Sally Hansen Diamond Shine.

Speaking of Rimmel Cosmetics, last week I purchased a new lipgloss as Walgreen's was having a "buy one get one 50% off" sale. So, I got my posh pink nail polish and I also grabbed the Moisture Renew SPF15 lip gloss in Pink Spa.
It looks delicious and sparkly in the tube but is very light when it's applied. I still love it though! It also has a hint of rose in the scent. Very soothing!
I have to say though, my favorite lip gloss is Maybelline Color Sensational. I own three. And they all have a delicious citrus-y scent to them! YUM!
I've got this in #255 Touch of Toffee, #065 Hooked on Pink, and #035 Pink Perfection.

If you looked in my bag, you would see about 7 different lip glosses (4 already named above) and 1 lip stick.

The other 4 items are as follows:

Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush lip gloss in Mango Madness (gets a sticky quickly)
Philosophy lip gloss in Dreamy Tangerini (yum, yum, and yum!)
N.Y.C. Liquid Lip Shine in #555 Iced Orchid (gets sticky quickly, but beautiful color!)
The Body Shop Delipscious in #01 (not a big fan of this. leaves a yucky taste in your mouth)

And yes, 5 of 8 are pinks, then I have two "naturals", and an orange-y color in the dreamy tangerini.

Will post more later!

Frosty the snow nails.

Hello evvveryboddy.
I adore painting my nails festive for the Holidays. I thought I would share this my quick little winter nails with you. I love mint green nail polish and there are quite a few options out there one of the more well known ones being Revlon's Minted. I however was looking for more of a sea foam green color and somewhat failed..but I ended up finding Sally Hansons Nail Growth Miracle color in Gentle Blossom. It is such a pretty mintish semi sea foam green color. I reminded me of mints and snow. I applied 3 coats without and top coat and it has stayed on for about 5 days now without chips. One thing I enjoy about this nail polish is that it is very build able and it has light glistens of silverish white glitter specks. The brush is also very nice becuase as most Sally Hanson nail polish brushes it is wide and picks up just the right amount of color. I actaully only had to re-dip into the polish after every five fingers painted and they all got the same amount of polish.

I ended up adding little snowflakes on my ring finger to make them more festive. (excuse the messed up snowflake, I didnt relieze it was still drying when I went to grab some peppermint bark). For the snowflakes I just used L.A. Colors Art Deco in White which can be bought at Dollar Tree and Dollar General. This I want to really celebrate Winter and make it more enjoyable I think I may change my nails every week during the Holidays since I have a abundance of polish and tons of cute ideas to do on them.

What color polish do you like to use on your nails during the Holidays?
Do you do any designs on your nails?

Take from this what you will,
Love Chelsea

Nails of The Week.

I cant even remember what the name or brand of my first nail polish, but since that time I have had quite a collection. I usually only paint my nails before each cross country, track, or exc. running race. But today I felt rather in the mood to just paint them. Summer always brings out the best nailpolish combinations.

Getting me some new swagga.

Tis the end of Black History and the end of "ghetto" words of the day from my friend Stefani. On my other blog ill have a recap of all the words she taught me. Well over the past weekend I picked up some new "swagga" if you will. The has a victorian line at Joann Fabrics and when it became 75% off I was all over it. Here are some pictures of the pickups I got:

All together I got two hooks, a large floral tray, a vase, fake brushel of flowers, a wicker baskert with floral cloth covering, and a metal floral tin. My toal was 84. 56 ( I think) and i save over 100.00. Yes, no that is waht I call a good deal.

The main reason I quess for showing off my haul is to ask for help in what to store in some of these things. Also I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to store nailpaoilsh in a cute way. I want all my nailpolish to be together and nail things to eb together. Problem, I am currently storing all of them in a dresser drawer. I do not know if I should keep them in there or move them else where. (thw wicker basket and metal floral tin are to small for everything). So Question:How should I store my nailpolish?

Here is my current situation:

Thanks!
Have a Wonderful Day!
Love, Chelsea
